Companies’ annual financial statements are typically published several months after the end of the financial year. However, when assessing competitors, potential customers, or business partners, it is important to understand changes in their business performance as early as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PLY Insights<\/a> explains how data on taxes paid by companies to the State Tax Inspectorate (VMI) can help estimate changes in sales revenue before the latest financial statements are published.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

One way to assess potential revenue trends is to compare the cumulative amount of taxes paid during the current year with the corresponding period of the previous year. Although changes in tax payments do not always directly reflect sales revenue trends, they can provide useful early indications of potential business growth or a slowdown in operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PLY Insights<\/a> also compared changes in sales revenue and taxes paid to the VMI in 2025 for 10 of Lithuania’s largest companies from different sectors. The analysis showed that sales revenue and taxes paid moved in the same direction for 9 out of 10 companies, while the rates of change were similar for half of them. However, in some cases, the magnitude of these changes differed significantly. Therefore, when forecasting revenue, it is important to consider the specifics of each company’s operations and tax structure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
